Enneagram FAQ

What is the Enneagram?  The Enneagram is basiclaly derived from the greek word Ennea, meaning 9, and Gram, or a drawing and depiction.  The Enneagram Symbol shows the 9 Types and how they interact with each other using lines connecting between two types.

How can I learn which type fits me?  There are a myriad of ways to discover your type.  I have a series online featuring a starter to this and go over two tests and break down my results from those tests so I can further show and explain my type.

How can I use this?  The Enneagram is a tool used for self-discovery and unlike other personality tools, like Myers Briggs or Strengths Finder, they show our behavior, our motivations and even how we think.  A lot of people do similar things depending on situations, circumstances, even our upbringing but the motivations are how they differ.   It also shows us how we move as a person, we don't just remain as one static thing.  We have good days and bad ones.  The Enneagram shows what those days may do to us internally speaking.

Is the Enneagram "spiritual"?  Not inherently; the Enneagram can be used in tandem with the major belief systems in the world.  It can be used independently and in tandem with current beliefs and structures in place in your life.

Can I change Types?  This is a question I wrestled with when I first learned about the Enneagram and my type.  I scored as a 1 and a 4 equally.  I resonated with the Type 1 because I deal with anger a lot.  I eventually had to accept I was a Type 4, but I look like a 1 at times when I am healthy and secure.  I also am a Sexual 4, which typically expressing anger more readily than the usual 4 you see and read in literature.  I've always been a 4.  Likewise other Types are interacting with our own Type and I believe we maybe cognizant of what we see interacting with us based on our understanding of the Enneagram.  Before I knew my Instinct I just assumed because I was in a healthy spot that was why I see the 1 side and I saw my anger as just a wrestling because I am emoitonal.  Seeing now my Instinct just helps re-explain it to me in a clearer sense.  (I hope my story answers that I ended up going on a bit of a rant.)
